Travel Gear
I got rid of my rolling suitcase and picked up a 45-liter backpack in Bangkok on Khao San Road in May 2009. Several countries, flights, boat rides, and bus trips later, it is still going strong. The brand is Deuter, and mine is a Futura make similar to the one seen here. I would recommend it to anyone and will likely be sticking with the brand if this one ever dies.
The laptop I just purchased has to be the best travel laptop ever. My HP Pavilion dm1 is in a new class of laptops called ultraportable, which means it is faster and has a lot more memory than a netbook, and is just a little bit bigger. It’s also able to play back my HD videos, which my former HP Mini wasn’t able to do.
I upgraded from standard digital cameras to a semi-professional model. The Canon PowerShot SX130 IS is perfect for me. The photo quality is amazing, the settings range from easy, which automatically selects the best settings for the shot, to manual. I figure it’s a great learning camera since I’m not advanced enough for a professional one yet. The camera goes through standard batteries quickly, so I bought a pair of Sony rechargeable batteries to go with it.
For making videos, I have a Flip camera with 8G of capacity. It’s super user friendly, lightweight, and the picture and sound quality is impressive.
